Hogs Drop Second Straight SEC Game

Hogs drop game two to the Gamecocks 6-2 on Saturday.

COLUMBIA, SC (KFSM) – Early inning woes kept the Arkansas baseball team from picking up it’s first conference win of the season Saturday against the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Freshman pitcher Barrett Loseke got the nod to start things out on the mound for the Hogs. But, his start was less than stellar. The righty walked in a run with the bases loaded in his first frame of work. He would finish the day after four innings with three hits, two runs, and only three strikes outs.

Michael Bernal would knock in Arkansas only two runs of the game the following inning after a Gamecock throwing error, which would knot things up at two apiece. James Teague would be responsible for the next four South Carolina runs, which would too much for Arkansas to overcome.

The Gamecocks would take the series with a 6-2 win Saturday. After the loss the Hogs are now 15-5, 0-2 on the season. Arkansas will look to escape the beginning of SEC play with one win under the belts with game three of the series set for Sunday with a 12:30 p.m. first pitch.
