LEFLORE COUNTY (KFSM) — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle accident that left one dead on Wednesday night (March 23).
OHP stated in a release that a Dodge vehicle was driving northbound on US-59 Highway, when it veered into the southbound lane for an unknown reason.
It struck an oncoming semi-truck head on, and the driver of the Dodge was pinned for approximately two hours. The Poteau Fire Department freed the driver with jaws of life, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene due to massive injuries, according to OHP.
The name of the deceased driver has not been released. Police stated that the driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
