FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM)- Arkansas baseball was looking for SEC redemption after losing the series against South Carolina last weekend, and Friday they got just that after defeating Auburn at Baum Stadium 3-2 with a walk-off win.

The first and second inning went scoreless on both sides, and it wasn’t until the third that the Tigers took a 2-0 lead. Auburn’s pitcher Justin Camp held the Razorbacks scoreless in the fourth and the fifth inning and it wasn’t until the 6th that the bats finally came alive for the Hogs. Cullen Gassaway hit a RBI double to left center allowing Carson Shaddy to score. Not long after that it was rick Nomura’s chance, he hit a single to left center letting Jake Arledge score tying the score 2-2.

What saved the game for the Razorbacks is when Josh Alberius took the mound for the Hogs in the seventh inning. In 2.2 innings Alberius had a career-high five strikeouts, gave up no runs, and no hits.

Arkansas’s Taccolini was the starting pitcher for the Hogs, but was replaced on the mound by James Teague after Taccolini allowed 2 runs, 6 hits, and 3 walks, and hit a batter in two innings.

In the ninth inning Arkansas’s Luke Bonfield hit a single allowing Jake Arledge to score the winning run. Thanks to Bonfield’d single the hogs got their first SEC win of the season.

The Diamond Hogd now improve 16-6 overall and 1-3 in SEC play.

The series against Auburn continues Saturday  at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
