(KFSM) HOUSTON- The saying goes that everything is bigger in Texas, and the National Championship Monday night in Houston stayed true to that saying.

Villanova and North Carolina exchanged leads through out the contest, but this game came all the way down to the last second. The game was tied 74-74 with 4.3 seconds to go, but Villnova’s Kris Jenkins’ drained a clutch three-pointer to beat the buzzer ending the game before it could go into overtime.

The first half ended with North Carolina in the lead 39-34, but Villanova made a steady comeback in the second half creating a 10-point deficit. The Tar Heels went on to erase the lead and tied the game on Marcus Paige’s circus shot three-pointer.

After that followed a shot by Jenkins that will forever go down as epic in NCAA tournament history.

This is the first championship win for the Wildcats since 1985 when Villanova defeated Georgetown in the finale.

The now legend of the night Kris Jenkins scored 14 points total.
