MADISON COUNTY (KFSM) — Two people were rescued from a Madison County house fire that injured seven people early Friday morning (April 8).

Fire crews arrived at the home around 2 a.m. and found that two people were still inside the house, which was fully engulfed in flames, officials said.

Firefighters pulled the two people from the home, and they were sent to the hospital, along with five other individuals who were in the house but escaped on their own. One of the people in the home was air lifted to a Springfield, Missouri hospital. Their injuries are unknown, but they are all in stable condition.

Firefighters were alerted to the blaze when two people inside the home smelled smoke while they were watching TV and called 911.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, said the Madison County Sheriff. However, investigators believe the fire started upstairs.
