New research suggests that whole milk is the smarter choice when compared to skim milk.

The study measured the three different byproducts associated with full-fat dairy products.

People with high levels of those substances had a significantly lower risk of developing diabetes.

The causes are still unclear, but experts believe that consuming high fat foods may be better at keeping hunger at bay -- resulting in lower calorie intake.
