The overnight complex of showers and thunderstorms has pushed a boundary (which will later serve as a focal point for storms) to our south.

As a result, widespread storms are not anticipated for NW Arkansas or the Greater Fort Smith area.

A few scattered showers and even a rumble of thunder are possible this evening but the chance for rain will diminish as you move from the south to the north with lower chances in Bentonville, slightly higher rain chances in Fort Smith, and the highest rain chances in Mena and Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Storms may develop later this afternoon closer to Mena and Texarkana as well as Idabel, Oklahoma.

Here’s a look at rain totals from overnight:

  • Fort Smith: 0.19″
  • Fayetteville: 0.59″
  • NW Arkansas Regional: 0.25″

No additional rainfall or severe weather is expected until late in the weekend and closer to next weekend.

This Wednesday, we’ll have a small chance for a few scattered showers across the area with warm air returning from the south to the north.

Another large trough of low pressure will move across the area around April 16/17th with another chance for severe thunderstorms across our area.
