PINEVILLE (KFSM) — Two inmates who escaped from a Missouri jail Sunday night were captured in Bowie County, Texas Tuesday (April 12) after stealing a vehicle and two dirt bikes from a Springdale dealer ship Monday morning.

The inmates have been identified as Matthew Miller, 22, of Eagle Rock, Missouri and Keith Davis, 24, of Anderson, Missouri.

According to Texas authorities, workers on a railroad spotted the vehicle and two motorcycles around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning and contacted law enforcement. Miller and Davis were captured around 11 a.m. when they came out of the woods and surrendered to officers, according to KSLA News 12.

Lt. Derek Wright, with Springdale Police, said a maroon Toyota Land Cruiser and dirt bikes were stolen from Midway Auto Sales on South Thompson Street.

Officers responded to a burglary call at Midway Auto Sales around 9 a.m. Monday. While there, they noticed a parked, unoccupied van that was reported stolen out of Pineville, Missouri, leading them to believe the escaped inmates were involved.

A red, white and black 2005 Honda CR-85 and a red, white and black 2006 Honda CRF-100 were both taken from the dealership, according to a release by the Springdale Police Department.

The McDonald County Detention Center is located in Pineville, Missouri, which is about a 15-minute drive to the Arkansas-Missouri border. Sheriff Michael Hall said the inmates escaped either Sunday night or early Monday morning.

“They went through a shower area, through basically a wall and a piece of metal where the pipes run into the facility and then out into a basically a contractor room and then out that door,” said Hall.

This wasn’t the first time Davis has been tied to the Springdale auto business, according to Missy Spence, manager of Midway Auto Sales, who stated that he had stolen vehicles in the past.

Both inmates are considered dangerous. Authorities ask that if you spot either of them, you call your local law enforcement agency immediately.
