SPRINGDALE (KFSM) — A man is behind bars after he kicked a Springdale officer several times during an attempted arrest early Sunday morning (April 17).

Mauricio Enrigue Hernandez, 25, is facing second-degree battery charges, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public intoxication, according to his arrest report.

Hernandez was spotted coming out of Zabana’s night club around 1:45 a.m., along with several other patrons, who started fighting.

The club’s security team broke up the fight, but Hernandez continued to yell profanity and flip off other patrons, even after officers approached him, the report states.

When officers tried to arrest him, Hernandez fought back, shoving and cursing at officers, the report states. After he was handcuffed, Hernandez kicked an officer several times in the face and chest while she was trying to put him in the back of a patrol car.

The officer reported several facial injuries, including a chipped tooth and jaw pain, the report states.

According to the report, he appeared highly intoxicated with bloodshot eyes, heavy swaying and he smelled like intoxicants. Once inside the squad car, Hernandez vomited in the back seat.
