Severe weather season in Arkansas will be reaching it’s peak in the coming days with April and May being the two months of the year when we receive the majority of severe weather reports in our area.

Annually, our primary severe weather season is from March until early June. This is a look at average number tornado, hail, and damaging wind reports we receive each month.

This year, we’ve already had 14 tornadoes in Arkansas with two of them in our area near Waldron & Evansville.

The state average is 21 tornadoes.

The jet stream next week takes on a much more active pattern favorable for tornadoes and severe weather. Expect the end of April and the start of May to be very active with numerous rounds of severe weather likely.
