Turns out that having a mid-life crisis is a real thing.

It's the phenomenon that makes middle-aged men suddenly buy colorful two-seater sports cars, or shave their heads bald.

Researchers studied 50,000 adults and concluded that people's sense of well-being takes a dive when they hit middle age.

Other studies theorized that, sometime in their 40s, people realize that the grand dreams of their youth won't come true.

Those who get through their mid-life crises start feeling better about themselves by the time they hit their 50s.
