Alma Duo Leading The Way For Airedales

Alma eyes deep run in upcoming 6A state tournament

ALMA (KFSM)- The Alma high school baseball team was looking to recover from their 13-5 loss against Catholic two weeks ago and they did just that with their win against Clarksville March 14th, but they didn't celebrate for long because they had their next opponent on their mind

"Tomorrow's a huge 6A game with Siloam," said Head Coach Kevin Edwards. "You know if we can take care of that we'll have everybody chasing us we don't wan to have to rely on anybody else."

And Alma did just that last Friday, shutting-out Siloam Springs 10-0, improving 3-0 in 6A Central play..and securing the number-one spot. In order to stay undefeated in 6A Central play, the Airedales are relying on their Senior Duo of Dylan Brown and Dylan Majors. Brown leads the team with three-home runs

"Dylan Brown he was All-State Last year for us he comes to work everyday and works his tail off. He's get frustrated if he doesn't hit everyone of them right on the screws."

and Majors has 20 R-B-I so far this season.

"Dillon Majors he played good as a sophomore last year he struggled a little bit like I said he's been working real hard too coming up with some key hits key RBI for us."

Both Seniors are swinging the bat well, with batting averages over .300, and they aren't intimated by the pressure of trying to lead the Airedales to a state championship.

"Honestly I kind of like the pressure to lead the team it makes me strive to do better that way they can follow and not just be a front-runner and say that I want to do something and not do it I like being able to go out there trust my team trust myself and just know that we are going to try to play the best that we can."

"Well it's really on the Seniors we have to set the tone we have to keep energy up in the dug out and you know just setting a example."

With three more conference games left in the season Brown and Majors plan to keep working hard to finish their high school careers at Baum Stadium.

"I expect to go 6-0 in conference play 6A conference play and go as a one-seed and get a bye for Sate and make it the finals and play at Baum stadium."
