FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- Five students at Fayetteville High School were recognized for getting a perfect ACT score this year.

However, none of those students will be going to college next year, as none of the students are seniors. Four of them are juniors and one is a sophomore. One of the juniors got a perfect score on his first try.

"We have like a good competitive atmosphere in here once you have a certain amount of students; not all of it can be set up by just the administrators," said Albert Xu, a junior at Fayetteville High School. "It has a lot to do with the students that come through, and like the students are the ones that build the school."

All of the students said Fayetteville High School has given them a great environment in which to excel. They all say the upper-level math and reading classes helped them get a perfect score.

"When you have this very competitive atmosphere, you have all these people who are very high achieving," said Megan Olsen, a junior. "It just kind of pushes you to continue trying harder and working more for what you can do."

Fayetteville High School has about 2,500 students from grades 9 through 12. These five students said they will be applying to The University of Arkansas along with other schools. However, right now they're concentrating on getting ready for their upcoming AP exams.
