FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- A Taco Bell Cantina will be moving into a portion of what once used to be Common Grounds on Dickson Street in Fayetteville.
K-Mac Enterprises Inc. CEO Sam Fiori confirmed the company is working through the approval and design process for the new restaurant. Fiori said the Taco Bell Cantina will only move into one half of the building and they plan to keep the existing patio area out back.
Taco Bell launched the cantina concept in Chicago and San Francisco last year. The restaurants serve a tapas-style menu and also offer alcohol.
Fiori said the Dickson Street location will offer a limited selection of wine, beer and liquor. He said it could open as early as late this year.
The other half of the Common Grounds building is not owned by K-Mac and Fiori said he doesn't know what business will move in next door.
K-Mac operates Yum! Brands, which includes Taco Bell, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Long John Silver's and Golden Corral, in Arkansas and eight other states, according to its website.
K-Mac closed its Taco Bell location on College Avenue on Sunday, but Fiori said that had nothing to do with the opening of the cantina on Dickson Street.
Several other chain restaurants operate on Dickson Street including Waffle House, Chipotle, Qdoba and Jimmy John's.
