UPDATE: Suspect, Victim Identified In Russellville Homicide Investigation

RUSSELLVILLE (KFSM) — Police have released the names of the victim and suspect in a homicide investigation.

William Gray, 42, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder after police believed he was involved in the case of dead woman found with gunshot wounds.

That victim, 39-year-old Rachel Michelle Chisum, of Atkins, was found in her vehicle after it had left the roadway and ran into a fence on Wednesday (May 25).

A bond has not yet been set for Gray.


A suspect was taken into custody Wednesday (May 25) after Russellville police officers found a dead woman with gunshot wounds in car, according to a release from the police department.

Officers were called in just before 8 a.m. to a disturbance in the 200 block of James Circle where they found a car had left the roadway and ran into a fence, police said. Inside they found a 39-year-old woman with gunshot wounds.

A 42-year-old male suspect was taken into custody at the scene and booked into the Pope County Detention Center, according to police. The suspect is facing a first-degree murder charge.

The victim’s name has not yet been released and detectives are still investigating.
