WASHINGTON COUNTY (KFSM) — The Arkansas Secretary of State’s Office will be equipping ten counties, including Washington and Sebastian, with new voting systems in time for the upcoming November general election.

The new equipment will include new voting and tabulating machines and software.

The integrated voting system pilot program was successfully tested in Sebastian County and three other counties during the primary elections March 1.

Washington County and four other counties are scheduled to get the new voting system in time for the upcoming school elections in September.

In April, Yell County was selected as the fifth county to join the program. Plans are to have their equipment ready to go in time for a special election in August.

The funding for the new equipment will be covered through existing money in the Secretary of State’s Office budget.
