ELKINS (KFSM) – Chad Harbison knows what it takes to be a successful head football coach and now he’s taking his talents to Elkins.

Harbison spent his first day on the Elkins campus on Thursday after joining the program from Russellville, where he was an assistant in 2015.

“I’m just excited to be here,” Harbison said. “Really fell in love with the culture. It seems like they have a good foundation, have had success in the past. just a really strong, tight knit community feels like to me and there’s a lot of potential.”

Haribson was a head coach at Harrison before joining the Cyclones last season. Even though he’s new to the Elkins program, he said the process won’t be a difficult one getting used to.

“You know they’ve been through a coaching change. I’m new, they’re new to me,” Harbison said. “They got to learn who I am, I got to learn who they are and develop that trust and they got to know that I’m sincere about what I do, have passion for what I do and they’ll follow us.”

Elkins has never won an outright conference championship but are coming off three consecutive postseason appearances.

Harbison’s Elkins debut will come on Sept. 3 as they travel to Shiloh Christian in the season opener.
