MENA (KFSM) — Rich Mountain Community College in Mena is now part of the University of Arkansas system after UA System trustees voted to approve the proposal Thursday (May 26).

The trustees also approved adding Pulaski Technical College in North Little Rock to its system, bringing the number of two-year schools on the UA list to seven.

Rich Mountain has about 950 students and two satellite campuses in Mount Ida and Waldron.

The president and trustees of Rich Mountain started discussions with the UA System earlier this year.

The merger will take effect July 1.

At their meeting, the UA System board also approved tuition hikes for all its schools for the 2016-2017 academic year.
