Police: Muldrow Man Arrested After Attempting To Rape A Minor

FORT SMITH (KFSM) — A 10-day investigation by the Fort Smith Police Department ended with the arrest of a 28-year-old man on suspicion of attempted rape of a minor.

According to a release from the police department, Christopher Jenkins had been messaging a 12-year-old girl through her private Facebook account. Jenkins, of Muldrow, then obtained her phone number and began texting her.

He is listed as an aggravated registered sex offender in Oklahoma, the release stated.

Jenkins met the girl and engaged in a brief conversation, before her grandmother approached them; Jenkins immediately fled the area, the release stated.

Police assumed control the girl’s Facebook account, and Jenkins messaged the account again. He arranged to meet her at a local park with the purpose of engaging in sexual acts.

Detectives arrested Jenkins upon arrival at the park. He is being held at the Sebastian County Detention Center without bond.
