CLARKSVILLE (KFSM) – After two seasons, Eli Cranor has resigned as the Clarksville head football coach.
Cranor stepped down as the Panthers coach to accept an assistant coaching job at Morrilton, a team that competes against Clarksville in the 5A-West.
“Eli accepted a job in Morrilton last night,” Clarksville athletic director Michael Banning said via text. “He has officially resigned and we are looking for a new head football coach.”
Clarksville has struggled since moving to 5A as they are 5-35 since 2012, including 1-19 under Cranor. The Panthers have not reached the playoffs since 2011.
Banning said he hopes to have a new coach in place by the first of next week.
Clarksville opens the 2016 season against Johnson County rival Lamar.
