FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- Many people will be out on the road this holiday weekend, traveling to see friends and family.

According to Gas Buddy, this Independence Day will be the cheapest in 11 years, since 2005. They're predicting the national average is supposed to be at $2.27 on the Fourth of July. Locally the average price for gas in Arkansas is at $2.06.

"If you can get gas at two dollars a gallon as opposed to three dollars a gallon, then that's a little cheaper," said Sam McDonald, a potential traveler. "It allows you to do some other things, spend some money in some other places."

In Northwest Arkansas gas prices are close to or at $2 a gallon, and in The River Valley they're at $1.80.
