LAKE TENKILLER (KFSM) -- The search for missing hiker Matthew Fagan continued on Thursday (June 30).
Sequoyah County investigators, emergency management, the Cherokee Marshal's office and dive teams searched areas of Lake Tenkiller.
"Dive teams dove into the area near Cato Creek in an attempt to locate evidence pertaining to the disappearance of Matthew Fagan," said Sequoyah County sheriff Ron Lockhart.
Investigators said a search K-9 located a scent near the bank and alerted that it continued into the water. Boats equipped with Sonar searched the area.
"They saw something in the water that, don't know what it was for sure but we are trying to figure out what it was. That's why we have a diver down from the sheriff's office and the Cherokee Nation divers were there," said Sequoyah County emergency manager Steve Rutherford.
According to Sequoyah County investigators, Fagan was last seen around 3:30 p.m. on June 21. Investigators said four friends that say they were with Fagan told them they planned to hike the Buzzard Roost Nature Trail at Cato Creek. The friends told deputies Fagan complained of his ankle hurting and said he was returning to the vehicle.
Fagan has not been seen since.
