A large area of thunderstorms is developing and will spread across Eastern Oklahoma and Arkansas during the overnight hours.

In addition to these thunderstorms already on radar, it’s likely that new thunderstorms will develop along and north of a stationary front across NW Arkansas. As of this writing around 9pm a few thunderstorms have already emerged on radar near Fort Smith. This area will expand later tonight.

Additionally, there’s a small risk of severe weather tonight with the main threat being damaging winds or hail near quarter size. The majority of the storms will contain a ton of lightning and torrential rain but the risk of widespread damaging severe weather is rather low, overall.
