FORT SMITH (KFSM) -- The Greater Fort Smith Association of Home-Builders brought the kids out of the heat for their second-annual Lego Building Contest Saturday (July 9).

Legos of every shape, size, and color filled the tables in the middle of Central Mall for the competition and more than 75 kids of all ages signed up.

The competitors were given a bag full of Legos and a time limit of 45 minutes. The goal of the tournament was to build a house out of Legos and a group of judges would score the houses. Some kids even added cars and other features to their houses.

Organizers said they put on this event to allow the kids to have fun inside while learning more about home-building.

"This is a no cost event for their families so they can get out on a hot day in the Summer, and participate," Executive Director, Stephanie said. "It gives them the availability to put some creativity and thought into home-building, which is what we're here to do."

Kids who placed in the competition received different size prizes of Legos. Cookies were also given out to competitors.

The next Legos Building Contest will be in February. For more information on the Legos Competition, click here.
