U Of A Student Crowned Miss Arkansas 2016 Saturday Night

HOT SPRINGS (KFSM) — Savvy Shields, a student at the University of Arkansas, was crowned Miss Arkansas 2016 Saturday evening (July 9).

The 21-year-old is an art major, minoring in business at the U of A, according to a release. Shields is the daughter of Todd and Karen Shields of Fayetteville.

Shields represented the title of Miss Heart of the Ozarks at the 79th annual Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant. The event took place at the Bank of the Ozarks Arena in front of more than 2,500 people. Her talent was a jazz dance performance.

She will represent the state at the 2017 Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City and will make appearances promoting the Children’s Miracle Network, the Arkansas Children’s Hospital and her platform “Eat Better, Live Better.”

Shields was crowned by Miss Arkansas 2015 Loren McDaniel of Van Buren.

Miss University of Arkansas Savannah Skidmore was the 1st runner up; Miss South Central Arkansas Brooke Cornelius placed as the 2nd runner up; Miss ASU Bailey Moses was 3rd runner up, and Miss UCA Ashton Purtle was the the 4th runner up.
