JOHNSON COUNTY (KFSM) — A man was rescued from some Johnson County bluffs this weekend after he suffered from heat exhaustion and got stranded for hours while hiking with his son.

The man and his 13-year-old son were hiking along some bluffs on Saturday (July 23) in the Ozone area when he started experiencing heat exhaustion and was unable to walk, according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office post.

A Johnson County deputy responded to the incident around 3 p.m., calling out in the woods to find the man. When he finally located the pair, they had been stranded for around 4 hours.

Several, members of Johnson County EMS, the Rural Fire Department, and auxiliary deputies also responded to the incident and worked to retrieve the man from the bluffs.

Afterward he was taken to the Johnson County Regional Medical Center for treatment. He is expected to make a full recovery.
