FORT SMITH (KFSM) — If you’re looking for a good time this weekend, look no further! The Peacemaker Music and Arts Festival kicks off Friday (July 29) in Fort Smith.

Organizers said the Peacemaker Music and Arts Festival is  dedicated to the promotion of local and regional artists of all walks of life. A total of 10 bands will be taking the stage along the Arkansas River, playing a mixture of diverse music from local, regional and national acts and artists. Folks will also have the opportunity to shop at local vendors and try out several different food trucks.

A portion of the proceeds raised through the ticket sales are donated straight back to the community. Last year, the Peacemaker Fest generated $10,000 for Girls Inc., The Children’s Emergency Shelter and Developmental Wings.

“We started this organization for two reasons. One, to bring something really cool and innovative to Downtown Fort Smith,” said Peacemaker Festival Treasurer Trent Goins. “But we also wanted to do something to give back to the community of Fort Smith.”

If you plan on coming to the River Valley for the festival, organizers said it’s best to find a hotel as soon as possible.

“We are expecting around 4,500 to 5,000 people per night in the park. So around 10,000 people for the weekend. Downtown hotels are going fast,” Goins said.

Gates open at 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday (July 30) at the Riverfront Park. Tickets are available either at the gate or online. A single day pass is $39; 2 day passes are $69.
