FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- While many students are getting ready to return to school, those who are in charge of getting students to and from school are also preparing.

School bus drivers prepare for the start of the school year by filling their routes. They review their routes and make sure their routes are set up the way they want them to be. There are safety checks as well, to make sure buses are fueled and ready to go, and that seats are repared and all the brakes and tires are ready.

"We look at the routes and make sure that if you know there's an area we need to adjust, we'll try to adjust it and we'll move that to another bus," said Tommy Davenport, director of public transportation for the Fayetteville schools. "Primarily the routes are going to be exactly the way they were last year."

Happy Hollow, Owl Creek and Asbell Elementary Schools are expected to start school Wednesday (Aug. 3).

Open enrollment for Fayetteville High School starts on Wednesday as well, and then school starts on Aug. 17.
