LINCOLN (KFSM) - Reaching the postseason is always the goal for high school football teams but when the Lincoln Wolves reached the 4A playoffs last season, some might have considered that a surprise.

Lincoln had reached the playoffs just three times in school history before and the Wolves were breaking in a new head coach with Don Harrison. Now that the first season is behind him, Harrison is ready to get his team back into the hunt in the 4A-1.

"We lost 21 seniors, any time you lose that many seniors it's tough, but it really helped with the fact that I was only here a year and we found a way to make the playoffs so I think it kind of builds up that if they'll come out and do what they're told, we've got a chance to be successful," Harrison said.

The second year coach will be able to lean on third year starting quarterback Harrison Swayne as he accounted for more than 2,300 total yards and 20 touchdowns en route to an all-conference season. Swayne is now one of the leaders of the Wolves and he said that it's time for his class to take control.

"I feel like all of us seniors had to step up and show the younger guys how it's going to go this year," Wayne said. "It's going to transform to success hopefully on the field."

Leading tackler Pace Maddox returns in the middle of a revamped defense that allowed 104 points in their final two games (conference champions Prairie Grove and Dardanelle).

Lincoln kicks off the season Sept. 2 as it hosts Westville, Okla.
