WEST FORK (KFSM) — The West Fork public works director submitted a letter of resignation Wednesday (Aug. 10) to the City Council.

In the letter, James Scanlon, writes that he rather continue to serve and support the community as a private citizen rather than as public works director. He also writes about the challenges he and his family have faced this year, but does not specify what those challenges are.

Scanlon requested that his resignation be effective Aug. 25, but writes that he will stay in the position until his replacement is found if that is the decision reached by the City Council, Mayor and Water Committee.

West Fork’s Mayor Charlie Rossetti resigned July 19. His resignation was effective immediately.

During their regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday (Aug. 9), the City Council appointed Don Rollins, alderman for Ward 1, Position 1, to fill in as interim mayor until November’s general election.
