CENTERTON (KFSM) -- Students across Northwest Arkansas are headed back to school, including students in the Bentonville School District.

Monday (August 15) was the first day of school for students attending the brand new Bentonville West High School. Teachers and staff have already been coming and going as they prepared for the first day. Now it's the students' turn, although only freshmen through juniors that will be attending this year.

"There's been a lot of students here picking up schedules and walking around so I think as far as inside the school, everything is going to go pretty well," said the school resource officer." "It's just going to be getting everyone in parking spots and through the drop-off line and out of the parking lot."

Bentonville High School will be a lot less crowded with this second high school added to the district. School administrators are also urging drivers to be aware of school buses after not seeing them on the roads the last two months. If you see flashing red lights, that means kids are ahead.
