MOUNTAINBURG (KFSM)- The Dragons won a playoff game for the first time in eight years last season, and with 15 returning starters, Mountainburg eyes a postseason run.

With nine starters back on the defensive side of the ball, expectations are high for Tom Harrell's squad.

"We would like to get in the playoffs," said Harrell. " I would like to finish first or second in the conference get in the playoffs win the home playoff game and get draws and make it as deep as possible."

One of Mountainburg's key returning starters is senior quarterback Quency Pixley. His junior year he completed 57 of 107 passes for 1,176 yards and 22 touchdowns leading the Dragons to their third place finish in the conference. Now, coming into his senior year Pixley wants to take the team further than they have ever been.

"I just want to lead them as far as we can go," said Pixley. "I don't think my school has ever been past the third round really so being known for taking them farther than that would be really nice."

Mountainburg's season opener will be against Cedarville on September 2.
