MAGAZINE (KFSM)- Last year Magazine's youthful roster was not strong enough yet to battle against the some of the more experienced teams in 2A Region 4 conference, but the returning starters have more reps under their belt and are ready to turn things around.

Rattlers' are ready for some consistency, and to get the program back on the upswing. One of Magazine's best most recent years was six years ago in 2010 when the Rattlers' last won a state title. Head coach Doug Powell (17-23) remembers that team as having what he called the "it factor" and wants to get the Rattler's back to that point.

"I asked them to help be the group that gets this turned back around," Powell said. "Because we have been in a lull, and compliments to them they have been out here for the most part. And they've helped try to make that change. They've had great attitudes."

Powell describes this team as different, in a good way, and sees the young group as very determined to get back on track.

One of the Rattlers' returning starters is junior quarterback Trevor Blake. Blake transitioned from being a slotback to quarterback towards the end of the season. The junior QB thinks that one benefit coming into the fall is that this squad is closer than the ones he has been apart of in the past.

"We play more as a team, we are more together," said Blake. "We've grown up with our whole life together. Last year we were a team, but nothing like this . We play with more intensity more heart aggression."

Magazine will play at Murfreesboro September 2nd at 7:00 p.m.
