VAN BUREN (KFSM) — A Van Buren man convicted of sexual assault was sentenced to spend 10 years in prison after he violated a court order to stay away from the victim, who was a minor.

Kenneth Burris, 26, was sentenced on Wednesday (Aug. 17) to 10 years in prison, plus 10 years suspended for violating the court order, said Marc McCune, Crawford County prosecuting attorney. He must also complete the sexual offender program in prison.

After learning his sentence, Burris began shouting profanities and threats until he was tackled by the bailiff, McCune said. Burris, along with his mother and fiancee who were also screaming, caused a disturbance in court.
