BATON ROUGE, La. (KFSM) — Tyson Foods’ Meals that Matter disaster relief program is setting up a major feeding center at a local mall in Baton Rouge, La.

Cooking teams from Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi and Texas traveled to the Cortana Mall in Baton Rouge to serve victims of the recent flooding. They will be prepping meals to serve at the mall and distributing them throughout the community.

The program is capable of feeding more than 10,000 meals a day to disaster victims, first responders and volunteers. Tyson sent a 53-foot semi-trailer with enough refrigerated space to store up to 20,000 pounds of product.

Tyson Foods’ Meals that Matter said they realize many residents in times of disaster may be so focused on recovery that they may not have time to prepare or access a hot meal.

The team will begin serving meals at 10 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 20) and serve them throughout the weekend.
