MANSFIELD (KFSM) - The past five seasons have been a roller coaster for the Mansfield Tigers but now the program hopes they've got the right coach in place to smooth things out.

Mansfield rose to one of the top teams in the 3A-4 in the early part of this decade but after seeing two head coaches leave in the past few seasons, Craig Bentley is not faced with the task of giving the program solid footing and his players like what the first year coach has been able to do so far.

"I think we're adjusting really well because everybody has bought into the program and we believe we can go far," Mansfield senior Gavin Phoumivong said.

"Everybody is really liking him so far and he's doing a really good job," Mansfield senior Spencer Davis said. "He's a lot more invested in helping the team and getting us new workout equipment. He's been doing everything we could hope."

Bentley was hired in early July to take over the Tigers program and said the process has started off on the right foot.

"They're ready for a change," Bentley said. "They're ready to take this thing and to get this program back in playoff contention year after year. They've been working extremely hard in the weight room. They've been working hard out here on the field and the attitude has been great and positive. They've done a really good job."

Mansfield kicks off the new season on Sept. 2 against Waldron.
