On this flavor of the week, meteorologist Melissa Hall headed to Rogers Avenue in Fort Smith, right across from Mercy Hospital, to River City Bistro.

This cozy spot got its start when mother and son transplants, who now call Fort Smith home, decided to pay tribute to the delicious deli style comfort foods they found in Pittsburg.

You'll find house-roasted and cured meats that pile high classic sandwiches such as  Reubens or rich and savory turkey Devonshires.

But the longer River City Bistro was open, the more they realized they were more than just a deli.

"We just adapted to our market," said Jason Haid. "We've noticed were much more versatile than we're giving ourselves credit for. We're much more than just a sandwich shop."

And more than just a sandwich shop, they most definitely are, but they've managed to hold on to that warm atmosphere regardless of if you're coming in for lunch or one of their wine dinners.

If you haven't treated yourself to dinner at River City Bistro yet, you're missing out. If you think lunch and brunch are divine, dinner is going to be fantastic. They change their menu weekly, and they've got entrees like filet mignon that is cooked to perfection served on top of some whipped mashed potatoes.

With the welcoming, eclectic environment and wide-ranging specialties, this unique dining experience is growing and looking forward to expanding for good reason.
