FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- The Little Free Pantry, which started in Fayetteville, is gaining popularity across the country thanks to social media.

Jessica MCclard set up her Little Free Pantry outside Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fayetteville in May. In just the last three months, she said she has heard from people from all over the country, even Canada, who saw her pantry online.

"It's been wonderful because I've had the opportunity to meet and talk with people that I never dreamed of meeting and speaking with," McClard said.

And the best part about these little pantries is that the sky is the limit.

"I like that there are not barriers in place for people to be able to act and as soon as possible," McClard said.

Two other little free pantries have opened up in Fayetteville, one at Christ's Church and the other at Hill Church. Another Little Free Pantry opened in Van Buren last week.

McClard said the Little Free Pantry gets emptied almost as fast as she fills it up. Most of the items are usually gone within thirty minutes.

"There is so much more demand-side than there is supply-side. I would only be concerned about that it if there was absolutely nothing going in and I know that is not the case. I know there is stock going in multiple times a day,” she said.

McClard said she cannot get enough of people using this concept to do good in their communities.

"It's extremely easy to just pick up a couple of things and put it in there and I know firsthand and it's been reported to me constantly. It feels so good to do it that often people want to do more," she said.
