SEQUOYAH COUNTY (KFSM) — A man who was found dead on train tracks near Muldrow on Thursday morning (Sept. 8) has been identified.

Rakesh Kumar, 45, was identified after his body was found along the railroad tracks, according to Sheriff Ron Lockhart. Kumar was from the Dallas area.

According to authorities, a train was in the area at the time. Jeff DeGraff, Director of Corporate Relations and Media with Union Pacific, said the railroad company is investigating the accident as a trespassing matter.

DeGraff told 5NEWS, “Our train crew spotted a trespasser lying on the ground near the rails. When they were able to check on him, they reported individual as deceased. We do not know if individual simply died near the tracks, or if there was train involvement. Have to wait for medical examiner.”

The medical examiner is still working to identify the cause of death.

What a horrible scene; all of us are sad at this loss…and cannot understand what preceded it. But for those that whose job it was to investigae..our law enforcement officers have an incredible amount of stress…day after they witness such scenes. If you are a LEO..thank you for what you do. Please take care of yourselves, and know that there are thousands out here that are thankful for what you do.
