FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- The Fayetteville Public Library is offering its first-ever amnesty week starting Monday (Sept. 12), allowing patrons to return any overdue materials in good condition without incurring a fine.

Amnesty week will end Sunday (Sept. 18), according to a FPL press release. The library is holding the amnesty week to thank the community for supporting the library, and also to recover missing materials.

During amnesty week, any patrons with outstanding overdue fees can also have their fines waived. In order to qualify for amnesty, patrons must physically come into the library to the checkout desk to request their fines be waived.

The library will only be waiving overdue fees or fines, the release states. Amnesty does not affect missing or damaged parts of the library collection.
