Above normal temperatures will be the big weather story with highs climbing into the mid and upper 90s and a heat index near 100º.

The high pressure ridge in the central and southern plains will stop any advance of cold air to the south for most of the week and early into the weekend.

The heat should finally subside by the weekend with highs falling back into the 80s which is closer to normal.

Fall officially starts on Thursday.
