FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- Bikes, Blues & BBQ officially kicked off Wednesday (Sept. 21) in Northwest Arkansas.

It was Law Enforcement Appreciation Day at Arvest Ballpark for the 17th annual motorcycle event. The community was invited to the ballpark to show appreciation for local law enforcement.

Local law enforcement agencies brought their own unique vehicle for the public to tour. Benton County brought the MRAP SWAT vehicle and helicopter, Fayetteville Police brought a K-9 and squad car, Rogers Police sent a mobile crime lab while the Washington County Sheriff's Office brought a team that promotes child safety in the community.

"We want to be out here for the community," Lieutenant Ti Augustine with the Washington County Sheriff's Office said. "We are providing child ID cards. The Fire Marshal has their severe weather trailer, so they can give educational support for severe weather, fire, and things like that."

For the past 17 years, Dickson Street has been known as the epicenter of the rally. Hundreds of motorcycles are already filling the street for food and drinks. Vendors are on hand selling Bikes, Blues & BBQ merchandise, including shirts and flags.

Rally attendee Karen Holland said the first night of Bikes, Blues & BBQ is just the start of a great week.

"It's just electric and charged. Everyone just has such a good time," Holland said. "You get to interact with other people on a whole new level. It is just relaxing."

The Dickson Street area will be packed for the next four nights, but events take place throughout Benton and Washington Counties.
