CLARKSVILLE (KFSM) — A former Johnson County deputy is under investigation following allegations of misconduct, according to Sheriff Larry Jones.

Jones said Thursday (Sept. 22) the investigation, which is being conducted by Arkansas State Police, stems from a complaint filed by a woman who came into the sheriff’s office.

The deputy, who Jones said he is not naming at this time, was suspended with pay on Sept. 11, but has since resigned from his position.

“We’re not releasing [the name] until we can prove what’s been said,” Jones said. “We hold our deputies to the highest standards.”

5NEWS has filed a Freedom of Information Act request to obtain documents pertaining to the investigation. Jones said once the investigation is complete, he will release further information.

Currently, the sheriff’s office employs eight patrol deputies.
