Goal Line Stand Propels Texas A&M To Runaway Win

Razorbacks drop fifth straight to Aggies
TEXAS

ARLINGTON (KFSM)- Bret Bielema laid the foundation of his Arkansas football program with the offensive line but Texas A&M withstood the Hogs push Saturday night.

The Razorbacks had three trips inside the Aggies’ two yard line but came away with just three points. A fumble cost Arkansas in the first half but the play of the game came in the third.

After three failed rushing attempts from inside the two, a reverse to Keon Hatcher was snuffed out and the Aggies took over in a tie game.

Two plays later, Texas A&M took control. Trevor Knight connected on a 92-yard scoring play that highlighted a 27 point spurt by the Aggies as Arkansas fell 45-24 at AT&T Stadium.

“Well, first, the play before we had the ball, obviously inside about the 2-yard line, we went with the quarterback sneak twice in a row,” Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said. “Not really sneak, just trying to wedge it forward. And it went to review and didn’t get in there. I think we had to clearly decide we had to get the ball in the end zone. We weren’t going to get the push up there that we needed on that play and really felt good about the play that we called and, obviously, didn’t execute it the way we needed to. They shut down the perimeter and then went with two bounce. We didn’t have an answer.”

Knight finished the game accounting for 382 yards and four total touchdowns and helped lead the Aggies’ rushing attack as they ran for 366 yards. Austin Allen threw for 371 yards and two scores for Arkansas but the Arkansas rushing game struggled as it averaged just three yards per attempt.

“A lot of missed opportunities for us in that game,” Allen said. “We’re going to watch the film and really kind of kick ourselves in the back, just knowing what we left out there. And that’s a great team we just played. We’ve got a lot of talent all over the field and just knowing how much we left on the field is, it’s something we practice on not doing that, but they made some plays down at the goal line.”
