FORT SMITH (KFSM)- The group, "We Stand With Standing Rock" has been collecting donations to take to the North Dakota pipeline protesters for a few weeks now.

"We can load a truck, we can keep our relatives warm, we can bring them non-perishable items, and we can bring them toilet paper," organizer, Fenix DeRoche said. "There's so much more that we can do to make a difference. I may not be standing in Standing Rock today, but I can make a difference."

Before their sendoff, the group held a benefit concert to celebrate.

"I'm so excited," organizer, Nokusece Wind said. "I feel like that commercial when your mind blows. I knew that there were gonna be a lot of people, and the bands were coming, but it's different when you're here."

Every person at the concert brought donations of their own.

"We got water, because they cut off their water supply there," Wind said. "They took out their buffalos, so we got water here. We got blankets, camping stuff, a tripod grill that they will use, toiletry items, hygiene items, a twenty-pound bag of rice, just your basic necessities."

People came from near and far to support.

"This is all over Arkansas," Wind said. "We have people coming from Oklahoma, like myself, and some even drove a hundred miles up here to be here, and it's awesome."

The group plans to leave this week for North Dakota, and said they will make more trips, if necessary.
