After the coldest start to the day since May 19th temperatures bounced back this afternoon into the 70s and low 80s. Lows won’t be as cold tonight due to south winds returning. Expect morning temperatures in the 50s.

The average date of first frost (32º) is in mid October in NW Arkansas and in early November in the Fort Smith area.

The earliest first snow is also in October although on average our area tends to see the most snow during the month of January. This data is from Fort Smith, Arkansas. Records from NW Arkansas were not maintained as thoroughly until later years when the population increased.

Another cold front will arrive on Wednesday and keep things cool into the weekend with the next widespread rain chance arriving around the middle of next week.
