5 Taken To Hospital, Including 3 Children, Following Highway 271 Wreck

SPIRO, Okla. (KFSM) — Five people, including three children, were taken to the hospital Thursday morning (Sept. 29) following a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 271 in Spiro, according to the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office.

The highway was shut down in both direction just after 7:30 a.m. near Highway 9A after an SUV and car collided at the intersection, the sheriff’s office said.

A father and three children were in one of the vehicles involved in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office. All three children were ejected and the youngest child was flown to a hospital by helicopter, the sheriff’s office said.

The father and the driver of the other vehicle were also taken to the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.

The highway reopened in both directions just before 9:30 a.m.
