FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) -- Hundreds of people gathered Sunday(October 9) evening for the ground breaking of Cross Church’s new campus right off I-49 on Wedington Drive in Fayetteville.

“I`ve been here thirty years and there has been nothing here and every time something starts it never finished. For some reason something comes up, bad economy or something that goes wrong with the vision. We believe God has saved it for us and we believe it`s his place, his time,” said Senior Pastor Ronnie Floyd.

The current Cross Church Fayetteville campus is also on Wedington Drive, but after five years they have outgrown the facility with more than 2,000 people attending four services weekly.

Floyd said they are very thankful for everyone who has made this day possible.

“We have an opportunity to literally touch thousands of college students on a weekly basis as well as thousands and thousands of people who live in the region of Northwest Arkansas that will attend our Fayetteville campus,” said Floyd.

James David has been a member of the Fayetteville campus from the start and he is excited for the future of their new campus.

“To be a part of something that has been so important, so critical to my family. When we first moved here you know we were from a different area, we had one child and now we have three and we are part of this vibrant community and I really want for others to experience that,” said David.

Construction is set to begin soon on the more than 57,000 square foot facility. They are hoping the campus is complete within a year.

There will also be a hotel, fitness center and restaurant next to the cross church campus, but they will not be owned by the church.
