SALLISAW (KFSM) – On Friday night (Oct. 7) Sequoyah County deputies said a shooting was reported near the intersection of Highway 59 South and Highway 141.
“A white male had been shot in the torso and was driven away from the scene. We also received a call from the shooter where the shooter reported he had just shot the victim because he barged into his house causing problems,” said Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart.
The call came in at about 9:30 p.m. Friday. The victim, Tracy Cardwell, was transported to a Fort Smith hospital where he died from his injuries.
The suspected shooter was arrested on an unrelated warrant. The case is being reviewed by the District Attorney’s office, according to Sheriff Lockhart.
The name of the suspected shooter has not been released.
Cardwell’s body will be transported to the medical examiners office in Tulsa for an autopsy, the Sheriff confirmed.
