Police: Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested After Taking Taxi To Bentonville

EUREKA SPRINGS (KFSM) — A suspect wanted in connection to a bank robbery in Eureka Springs was captured Friday (Oct. 14) in Bentonville, according to the Bentonville police chief.

The First National Bank in Eureka Springs on Highway 23 was robbed around 2 p.m., according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators identified the suspect as Hunter Cory Chafin, 19, the sheriff’s office said.

He was dropped off at the bank in black vehicle and left in a white taxi following the robbery, according to the sheriff’s office. Chafin got away with an undetermined amount of cash, the sheriff’s office said.

According to Bentonville police, the cab dropped the suspect off at a home in Bentonville where he bought a motorcycle that had been listed on Craigslist. Chafin was stopped and arrested on S. Walton Boulevard, police said.

The suspect was transported back to Carroll County.
